Boasting a large outdoor patio, koi pond, fire pit, and sprawling back bar, Searsucker is the perfect place to gather with friends for happy hour, enjoy a weekend family brunch, or indulge in an intimate date night in the heart of North County. Our favorite dishes here have to be the Wonton Poke to start, then finishing strong with the Short Rib plate! Check this place out for a incredible dining experience!

Cafe of the Moment: Communal Coffee

If you’re in the North Park area and in the mood for unique drinks and tasty eats, you have to check out Communal Coffee. They call themselves a craft coffee company, but they also serve tea, lemonade, cold pressed juice, matcha, and more. Our favorite drinks on the menu are the Rose Vanilla Latte, the Sea Salt Caramel Latte, the Sparkling Lavender Lemonade (for those hot summer days), and the Lavender Honey Latte. If you’re hungry, we recommend the Avocado Toast, Lavender Honey Toast, or one of their sweets treats like the Blondie or an Ice Cream Sandwich.

The atmosphere is cheerful and hip – like visiting a carefully curated Instagram feed. In fact, Communal Coffee is practically made for Instagram. They have a collaboration with Native Poppy so the coffee shop is full of beautiful flower bouquets. They also sell fun gifts and cards so be sure to spend some time perusing their selection!

Parking is definitely limited. Like so much of North Park, it’s street parking early. So if you live within walking or biking distance, definitely leave your car at home. But Communal Coffee is definitely well worth the parking struggle!

They also have a second location in Pacific Beach, called Konito’s Cafe which is open from 7am-3pm every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The menu is simple, but delicious! It really hits the spot after a day of surfing or exploring the Pacific Beach neighborhood. Our favorite menu items include the Veggie Scramble, Chorizo Breakfast Sandwich, Big Breakfast #2, and Chicken Quesadilla. And of course, you can’t go wrong with any of the breakfast burritos!

Stop by Kono’s after your next surf trip and see why this cafe is truly one of San Diego’s hidden gems!

Cafe of the Moment: The King’s Craft Coffee Co

Poway, CA 92064

Simply put: we think this is the best coffee and tea shop in Poway! It’s a true hidden gem, hidden down at the end of Twin Peaks Rd. It’s the perfect stop after a morning spent hiking Iron Mountain or Lake Poway (AKA Potato Chip). Not only does this coffee shop have great atmosphere if you plan to spend the morning catching up with a friend or getting some work done, they serve outstanding drinks and baked goods! Plus, all of the servers are super friendly and eager to help you pick out a drink you’ll love.

First, the coffee: people love their lattes and espresso! Whether you want a basic cup of coffee or something more adventurous, King’s Craft has you covered.

If you’re not a coffee drinker, they have plenty of delicious non-coffee options from their Mexican Hot Chocolate (Delicious) to the Lavender Chai Latte (Amazing) to their Iced Teas (yes, even the Iced Tea is worth writing home about!)

Of course, no cup of coffee or tea would be complete without a delicious, fresh-baked pastry. Their scones, muffins, and waffles are all bursting with flavor and are the perfect complement to your drink of choice! They also serve Cravory cookies so if you’ve been wanting a Cravory Cookie without the drive, you can get them at King’s Craft!

The parking lot is a bit small and is right next to a community soccer field, so if you’re visiting on a Saturday morning you might have to park along Espola Rd. But trust us when we say that The King’s Craft Coffee Co is worth the trip!

One more thing we should mention: The King’s Craft is locally owned and operated and they also donate a portion of their sales of select items to non-profit organizations and community youth programs!
