With its near perfect climate, San Diego is one of the best year-round golf destinations on the planet. Featuring a large number of courses in a wide variety of styles, there are courses for players of any level, from those just beginning to the seasoned pro. We have compiled a list of some of the premier golf courses, all you have to do is book a tee time.
Torrey Pines, La Jolla
San Diego’s most well-known golf course. Situated on top of the cliffs above the breathtaking Torrey Pines Reserve, this course features stunning views of the pacific ocean and coastline. It hosts high profile golf tournaments almost yearly. If you had the chance to only play one course here in San Diego, this would be it. All information can be found right here.
Omni La Costa Golf Resort, La Costa
A Gold Medal Golf Resort, the Omni La Costa boasts a combination of rich tournament history with a very prominent list of guests. Played by many pros and celebrities alike, this resort features two courses that are excellent for players of all skill levels. Their “Champions Course” is Dick Wilson’s only California designed course, and hosted the 2012 LPGA Kia Classic. Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club, Carlsbad
Overlooking the beautiful Batiquitos Lagoon nature preserve, the Aviara is one of the top golf resorts in Southern California. This is the only coastal California course designed by Arnold Palmer, and features 18 holes stretched out over 7,000 yards of carefully landscaped hillsides right on the lagoon. It also features a whopping 32,000 square foot Spanish Colonial Clubhouse and will be featuring the LGPA Kia Classic early next year. Info here.
Maderas Golf Club, Poway
One of San Diego’s top public golf courses, this Johnny Miller and Robert Muir Graves design effortlessly blends strategy and beauty as it takes you through the inland country of North San Diego’s creeks, rock outcroppings, forests, and cliffs. Steele Canyon Golf Club, Jamul
Although a little out of North County, those willing to make the trek out to Jamul are rarely disappointed. The Crossings at Carlsbad, Carlsbad
This 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Greg Nash, a nationally renowned course designer and architect. Pantone has revealed that the color of the year for 2015 is Marsala, a rich, wine-red hue.
Pantone had this to say about their color choice: “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in
to its embracing warmth.
Not only does Pantone’s color pick affect what colors ends up in clothing stores, it also ends up in home furnishings. Look for this color to show up in decor items like pillows, rugs and other textiles, lamps, vases, artwork, and more. For those that like a bolder touch, you can paint a wall this color or incorporate some furniture in this shade.

Recipe: Spiced Apple-Pear Sauce
What You Need:
3 McIntosh apples, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
3 ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
6 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
Directions:
1. Combine the apples, pears, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 cup water in a medium saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Cover, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the apples and pears are very soft but still a bit chunky, 15 to 20 minutes. Taste the mixture and add the remaining tablespoon of sugar if desired.
4.Remove the sauce from the heat and stir a few times until the sauce is well combined with small chunks.
5.Cool to room temperature.
6. Remove the cinnamon sticks and serve. (For a smoother sauce, remove from heat, remove the cinnamon sticks and then whisk the mixture until smooth before cooling.)

The California Surf Museum was founded in 1986 in an effort to help preserve surfing’s rich and robust history that some people felt was being lost on the newer generations. San Diego Heritage Museum, Encinitas
The San Diego Heritage Museum was founded in 1988, in an effort to preserve records, artifacts, and stories pertaining to the history of the communities of the San Dieguito River area. This area is roughly comprised of Solana Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, Leucadia, Olivenhain, and Cardiff. Originally a dry-farming and cattle ranching community, with only around two thousand residents, this area has definitely come a long way. Lux Art Institute, Encinitas
Lux Art Insitute’s mission is a redefinition of the traditional museum experience. They don’t want visitors to just see the finished product, they want them to be exposed to the entirety of the creative process. To do this, they feature resident artists, so that visitors can experience their studio process and environment. The Museum of Music Making, one of the newer museums in the area, was founded in 1998. Despite its short history, they have hundreds of vintage instruments. They also have special exhibitions, innovative concerts, and many educational programs. Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside
This regional hub for the arts had a major remodeling done in 2008, in which is expanded from its original 5,000 square foot size to its now 20,000 square foot size. Aside from their average of fifteen plus art exhibitions a year, they also feature concerts, films, fundraising, culinary events and much, much more. Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum, Vista
This museum, located on a massive 55 acre lot, houses an unbelievable amount of vehicles (well over 20,000!) ranging from the 1850’s to the early 1960’s.
