After enjoying success with their food truck and their first storefront location in Mission Valley, Grater Grilled Cheese recently opened a store in Carmel Valley at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center!
A word of advice: if you don’t like cheese and butter, you’re not going to enjoy this restaurant. But if your late night dreams are made of cheese, you’ll want to try the Grater Grilled Cheese menu right away! The menu consists of grilled cheese sandwiches (of course), mac n cheese, tomato soup, and loaded cheese fries. Our favorite grilled cheeses are the Basic 5 Grilled Cheese and the Avocado Grilled Cheese. You can also create your own grilled cheese sandwich! The mac n cheese is also delicious, though more of a side size than an entree. We really liked the Grater Mac! And of course you can’t go wrong with the cheese fries, or Pommes Frites! Try the 5 Cheese or the Lobster Pomme Frites which are big enough to share!
If you’re craving a good grilled cheese and tomato soup or mac n cheese, stop by Grater Grilled Cheese! “Making the world a grater place one grilled cheese at a time!”

Nestled in a small shopping center on the edge of Scripps Ranch, Todo’s Sushi is one of the area’s best kept secrets! A true hole-in-the-wall sushi joint, Todo’s is a local favorite that turns out consistently delicious sushi.
Open for both lunch and dinner, Todo’s is known for their amazing rolls! We recommend bringing a few friends so you can sample several different rolls. Our favorites are the Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll, Spider Roll, Langostino Crunch Roll, Star Wars Roll, Sensual Pleasure Roll, and Sweet Hawaiian Roll. If you sit at the bar, you’ll get the opportunity to sample even more delicious food as the chefs will make sure your plate is never empty!
Todo’s also serves Japanese favorites like gyoza, yakitori, teriyaki, miso soup, and udon. For dessert, try the green tea tempura ice cream – you won’t be disappointed.
One of the best things about Todo’s Sushi (besides the awesome food) is the discounts. Many of the rolls come with dine-in discounts of 50% off. And if you’re picking up takeout, a 40% discount still applies to many of the rolls! Not only does Todo’s have some of the best sushi in the Scripps Ranch area, it’s also affordable!

If you’re in the mood for fish tacos, this is the place to go! The ingredients are fresh, organic, and locally sourced. As well as the mouth-watering food, the atmosphere is really cute with a outdoor patio that overlooks Leucadia Blvd.
We love just about everything on the menu! Haggos Tacos is definitely known for the Cousteau Fish Tacos, which feature sauteed fish on corn tortillas with organic slaw, cumin-lime crema, mango salsa crudo, and of course, cilantro. Their other taco choices include chicken, beef, steak, and vegan/vegetarian options. Each taco plate is served with jasmine brown rice and red beans. When it comes to burritos, the chicken and veggie burritos are our favorites.
Next time you are in Leucadia check out Haggos Tacos, you won’t regret it!

Rimel’s is a popular family-owned restaurant located in the Del Mar Highlands. The all-natural, healthy, and locally-grown menu has been a success for over 22 years. The rotisserie kitchen cooks everything over oak, which is milled from their local ranch, and serves grass-fed, Animal Welfare Association approved meats. The bulk of the fish served is supplied from their own fish company that is long-line caught and local when possible.
Our favorite menu item at Rimel’s has to be the pot-stickers. They are crisped to perfection and lathered in a mix of three homemade sauces. You also can’t miss their rotisserie chicken, which is juicy, flavorful, and all-natural. Other delicious menu items include the steaming rice bowls, tortilla roja soup, and the simple, grilled fish tacos. Most plates are served with rice, beans, and as many of their sauces as you desire.
Rimel’s also has two other locations in La Jolla and Cardiff-By-The-Sea.

Located on the Encinitas/ Leucadia border, Birdseye Kitchen has enjoyed much popularity in its first year of business. It’s easy to see the appeal due to the great food, excellent service, and lovely atmosphere. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The decor is simple, elegant, and features the work of local artists hanging on the walls. The front window rolls up on a sunny day, giving the main room fresh air and plenty of light.
This Vietnamese-Thai restaurant differentiates itself from other Southeast Asian-inspired eateries due to the fact that the menu is conscientious of its food sources and ingredients. The menu is made up of organic, nutrient-dense ingredients and grass-fed meats. There are interesting fusion dishes as well as classic dishes such as pho, pad thai, and house special curry. Most menu items can be made gluten-free and/or vegan.
We highly recommend the beef pho, drunken noodles with curry powder added, and yellow curry. But you really can’t go wrong because each dish is perfectly seasoned, fresh, and delicious!

Sizzling Pot King serves traditional Chinese cuisines in a unique way! Similar to Mongolian hotpot, you order your choices of meats, veggies, or spices. However instead of cooking your food in a broth, the servers bring you a small stone or metal pot filled with your requested ingredients. After the pot and the ingredients inside cool, you can add either Chinese rice noodles or rice to the hotpot to complete your delicious meal!
The standard meat choices available are pork, beef, chicken, or fish. Vegetable options include onions, bean sprouts, chopped lettuce, or leaks. There are also special menu options such as duck, rabbit, lobster, or fishcakes, but all all of them are served in the same dry hotpot method of cooking. If you are looking for a new Asian restaurant to try, Sizzling Pot King is a must!
