A relative to Bertrand at Mr. A’s and honored as one of Food and Wine’s Top 25 Restaurants in the Nation, Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe offers a delightful California twist on traditional French cuisine.

The chic menu offers unique dishes such as Antelope Medallions and Rabbit, as well as standard west coast favorites like Lobster and Maine Sea Scallops served with veggies from nearby Chino Farms. The desire to always serve local, seasonal food allows for menu options to change daily, which reflects the thought and consideration that is put into every dish and dessert.

Another reason to love Mille Fleurs is that they offer live music Wednesday through Saturday, which you can enjoy at ease from the warmly lit dining room, the fully stocked bar, or the lush courtyard patio.

On the last Tuesday of every month, they pair together wine and specialty menu items featuring cuisine from all over the world.

Whether meeting for a business lunch, after-work cocktail, or a special occasion, Mille Fleurs is sure to impress.

Restaurant of the Moment: Antica Trattoria

Antica Trattoria

5654 Lake Murray Blvd

San Diego CA 91942

(619) 463 – 9919

www.anticatrattoria.com

It is rare to find a restaurant that fully captures the warm, romantic atmosphere of old world Italy, but Antica Trattoria in La Mesa seems to have done just that. Though lacking curb appeal, as soon as you enter you are transported from strip mall to quaint Italian village, where low lighting and scenic murals allow you to settle into one of San Diego County’s best kept secrets.

This old fashioned restaurant is a hub for Italians, and even the owner and executive Chef,  Francisco Basile, is a Sicily native. His upbringing has certainly influenced the offerings of Antica Trattoria, all of which are inspired by the simplistic and seasonal ingredients of his seaside hometown. This passion for flavor is unmistakable as you dig into pappardelle pasta with Italian sausage, artichoke hearts, and oven-dried tomato all complimented with their signature light saffron sauce. Basile’s talent goes far beyond pasta, which is apparent as soon as you take a bite of the crab stuffed salmon or boneless short ribs.

With outstanding service, atmosphere and most importantly, the impeccable flavors of Italy, Antica Trattoria is one of San Diego County’s shining stars.

Restaurant of the Moment: Tom Ham’s Lighthouse

Tom Ham’s Lighthouse

2150 Harbor Island Drive

San Diego, CA 92101

(619) 291-9110

www.tomhamslighthouse.com

lowres-1154

Named by Night & Day Magazine as one of the “Summer Musts,” this Lighthouse turned restaurant is a true gem. The remarkable structure was recently renovated, bringing with it new life and the option to enjoy the illuminated San Diego skyline from the bay view deck. The spacious, nautically inspired dining room offers cuisine for any palate, a vast wine and spirits menu, as well as an upscale Sunday brunch for the whole family.

Dinnertime favorites include the Muscovy Duck with herb gnocchi and authentic Paella. Remember to leave room though, because their pastry chef has your sweet tooth covered. It seems cruel to have to pick favorites, but the highlights of the dessert menu are the White Chocolate Creme Brulee and Drunken Bread Pudding.

Overall, this historic Harbor Island restaurant is a must for visitors and locals, alike.

The site is also available for special events, banquets, and parties.
