Everyone wants to have a memorable and festive Thanksgiving experience, however, not everyone wants to spend the entire day laboring away in the kitchen. If that last part doesn’t quite fit in to your idea of what a holiday should entail, here is a list of some of San Diego’s premier hotels and restaurants teeming with professionals who would love to take care of that part for you!
Hotel Del, Coronado

Recipe: Delicious Apple Cake
What You Need:
9 tbsp. unsalted butter
3 Golden Delicious or Gala apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 ½ c. all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. salt
1 c. granulated sugar
Grated zest of ½ lemon
2 large eggs
¼ c. milk
Confectioners sugar, for dusting
Cinnamon, for dusting
Directions:
- Melt 1 tbsp. of the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples and cook until softened, about 10 minutes.
- Heat oven to 375°F.
- Butter and flour a 6-cup bundt pan.
- Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat remaining 8 tbsp. butter with the sugar and lemon zest until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, until well-mixed.
- Using a wooden spoon, beat in flour mixture in three batches, alternating with milk in two batches. Stir in apples.
- Scrape batter into the pan and bake in the center under the oven until a knife comes out clean, about 50-60 minutes.
- Turn out on a wire rack to cool.
- Before serving, dust with confectioners sugar and cinnamon.

Recipe: Apricot Glazed Chicken With Dried Plums and Sage
Apricot Glazed Chicken With Dried Plums and Sage
What You Need:
2 roasting chickens, cut into pieces
1 (12-ounce) jar apricot preserves
15 medium dried plums, pitted
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
3 pinches salt
20 grinds black pepper
10 cloves garlic, peeled
20 to 30 sage leaves
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Trim any extra fat from the chicken pieces and transfer them to a large roasting pan or broiler pan. If you don’t have a roasting pan that’s large enough, use 2 identical 13 by 9-inch baking pans.
3. Toss all of the ingredients together with the chicken until the chicken is evenly coated with the sauce. Arrange the chicken pieces skin-side up in the pan, spaced evenly apart.
4. If you’re looking to prepare in advance, you can do everything up to this point and cover the roasting dishes and refrigerate until you’re ready to roast the chicken.
5. Roast, uncovered, until the tops of the chicken pieces are browned and the chicken is cooked through, and the juices run clear, about 35 to 40 minutes.
