Design Trends: Velvet at Home

Velvet is a bit of a love-it or hate-it fabric. Too much velvet can make a room feel heavy and pretentious. But a few velvet accents here and there can give a luxe update to a space. The easiest way to incorporate velvet for late fall and early winter is in the form of pillows, throws, and pillow/furniture covers. If you’re looking to make more of an investment, a velvet couch or chair can make a statement in an otherwise neutral room. And to really be on-trend, choose velvets in some of fall and winter’s hottest colors: rich purple, deep red, dark navy, or smoky grey.

Design Trends: Seasonal Colors

Bringing the colors of the season into your home is a trend that never seems to go out of vogue. Whether it’s warm autumn hues, winter whites and jewel tones, spring brights, or airy summer colors, it’s easy to incorporate the season into your design. If you start with a neutral palate of furniture, woods, and walls, swapping out pillows, throws, rugs, and even curtain is a quick and less costly way to give your space a new look.
