Hamburgers are an All-American good. Slater’s 50/50 takes it to the next level. Not only do they let you build custom burgers, they serve truly original burgers on their menu. Located in the beautiful Liberty Station area of Point Loma, the wait might be long, but this is a place you don’t want to miss.
Slater’s is known for their 50/50 burger: 50% beef and 50% bacon patty. Of course, they serve a regular all-beef patty, chicken, turkey, and even veggie options, but if you’re going out to Slater’s, it’s a good idea to try their special patty. And it’s delicious. Like eating the best bacon cheeseburger you’ve ever had, smoky, meaty, and juicy.

They have a few kooky items on their menu (PB&J burger?), but their burgers are well-built and well-balanced. They serve delicious milkshakes, which can even be made alcoholic. Tip: it’s not on the menu, but order a Nutella, Oreo, and Baileys shake and thank us later.
Slater’s has quiet a few appetizer options as well. They allow you to do it sampler platter style, which is a good joint. The fries are delicious along with the bacon mac ‘n’ cheese balls (can you tell they’re kind of obsessed with bacon?).
They’ve also got quite a few interesting desserts on the menu, including a bacon brownie and a bacon blondie.

Beyond the food, they’re known for the wide range of beer, wine, and cocktail selections. They have over one hundred beers on tap, including specialty and craft beers. They also carry hard ciders and fruit beers.
The decor is fun, fresh, and functional. Though it’s pretty loud, the tables are intimate enough that you can earily hear your dining partners. It’s always busy and they don’t take reservations, but certain times are better that others. Note: We visited on a Sunday night and waited less than ten minutes.
