The Promiscuous Fork
6984 La Jolla Blvd. La Jolla,CA 92037
Originally getting its start as a La Jolla catering company, The Promiscuous Fork restaurant describes itself as a “fun foodie joint”.
It’s definitely a local hole-in-the-wall street. Located on La Jolla Blvd, midway between the bottom of the La Jolla enclave and the beginning of Bird Rock, this definitely isn’t the place for you if you don’t want to fight for a table. In fact, there’s only one large indoor table at the center of the room…the rest is benches and bar stools along the wall.
The menu is limited, but decadent. The flavors are unique and surprising. The Surf and Turf sandwich is a standout: a crab and pastrami grilled cheese. The Best Fork’n Chicken Sandwich ever is quite good, a surprising mix of flavors. Some other Promiscuous Fork favorites include the Yuck-Mouth, a garlicky burger, the Lamb Lollipops, appetizer lamb skewers, the Blackened Salmon Tacos, and Kailua Pork Quesadilla.
They have plenty of quality craft beers available, as well as wine.
As for the sides that come with your meal, we definitely recommend the coconut jalapeno rice: just excellent.
Plan to wait no matter when you go. It’s a small place with a small staff, but it provides a very intimate and delicious foodie experience.
