Thyme in the Ranch entrance

Nestled away in a little yellow building in the town square of Rancho Santa Fe, lies one of the community’s hidden gems. This is a truly insider location. So small that half of their tables are on the covered porches outside the building, walking into Thyme in the Ranch is more than a little like walking into your grandmother’s country kitchen. Wood floors than squeak and bend as you walk, the scent of fresh-baked pastries and breads, and the warmth that only comes from certain cozy places.

All of the food is fresh and tastes fresh. The salad lettuce is crispy, the avocado brilliant green as it’s just been pulled from the rind. The meats are juicy and flavorful. But what really makes Thyme in the Ranch a standout, is its baked pastries and sweet desserts. Amy Green, agent and co owner of Coastal Premier, recommends the bread pudding. Similar to the Food Network’s series, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate”, Green declares the bread pudding from Thyme in the Ranch her best thing. “It’s the most orgasmic food experience,” she says.

Thyme in the Ranch serves breakfast and lunch. Weekend breakfast and brunch are quite popular with RSF residents, so make sure to come early for a table, especially on a chilly day. If you’re looking for a new breakfast place to try and you’re sick of The Cottage, Snooze, The Coffee Cup Cafe, or The Broken Yolk, take a jaunt out to Rancho Santa Fe. Follow the winding road down into town, taking a moment to enjoy some of the most beautiful and exclusive homes in San Diego.
